Get Noticed with Merit Pages
by Rachel Brumenschenkel ’18
I have been a student worker at the Office of Marketing for three years, and one of my duties is to work on Merit pages. Merit is a website used by universities and students to recognize student achievements. Each student has a page that they can customize with work experience and activities, similar to LinkedIn. Mount Union awards students with “badges” when you do community service, win an academic award, make the Dean’s list, participate in a theatre production, and so on. It’s practically a resume that builds itself!
Part of my job is to create these achievements and write an accompanying story about them. Through the Merit platform, these articles are not only visible on the students’ Merit page, but the articles are also sent to hometown newspapers.
Last week, the Office of Marketing hosted a Merit workshop and informational session to explain how Merit works and how you can benefit from using it. If you happened to miss the workshop, we have provided the PowerPoint below for your reference.
Be sure to check it out if you want to learn more! Merit can help set you apart when looking for jobs and internships, keep track of your college involvements, share your achievements with family and friends, and more.
